After spending 7 years as a professional baseball player for the Chicago White Sox, I can relate to the physical and mental challenges associated with being a professional athlete. I understand the impact they can have on performance and well-being, especially when left untreated. During my professional career, I struggled to cope with stress and performance anxiety, which led to a decreased ability to perform in the most important moments. At that time, I did not have the knowledge of what I was experiencing, the skills to support performance, or the access to people who could help. These factors impacted my performance over time, eventually leading to being released and on a search for answers. After finding my own support, I entered the field of social work to help teach skills to athletes struggling with mental health and performance. I currently support and contract with multiple professional sports organizations, am included on mental health registries within different professional sports, support colleges and their student athletes, entertainers, Las Vegas performers, and many others who benefit from increased performance and engagement in their crafts.
I focus on supporting athletes with performance anxiety, stress, injury, recovery, increasing engagement while performing, life after sports, and many other needs identified by elite athletes and performers. I am committed to providing quality evidenced based mental health services to the greater Las Vegas community. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I obtained my Master’s in Social work from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL with a focus in Trauma Informed Care and Neurobiology.
